NEW RADIOHEAD: 10/10/2007. This is in ten days. I would be buying the fancy box with the 12″ 33rpm heavy vinyl but I can’t get on the website.

I bought a bunch of periodicals to read and this may be my new Sunday tradition, read through the Sunday NY Times (I just started a Fri-Sun subscription.), some other magazines. The articles on Chechnya and Wes Anderson have been most interesting so far.
Sunday NY Times, accompanying magazine, Wired, Seed, New York.

paper due tomorrow

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

so I’ve got to get on that and type up my draft.  It helped a lot of write it out by hand so i could go out of my room and work on it.  Loose leaf paper and xeroxes don’t have the internet.  My paper is on a selection from Emerson’s Nature (mostly the first 6 or so paragraphs from chapter 1) and an Ursual K. Le Guin short story titled “Vaster Than Empires and More Slow.”  It should turn out ok.  I’ll hand it in on my way to work tomorrow after I’ve hopefully gotten some sleep.  I am curious to see how quickly I can type and edit this paper since I was able to draft it in about 3.5 hours including a coffee break and rereading all the passages for helpful content and reworking the organization a couple times.  I finished The Electric Church yesterday and it deserves a review with some real meat to it and some thought on my part in spite of it’s faults.  Look for that review in the next couple days.

glad to live in a basement

because it’s 92 degrees, outside.  I’m not so glad because some guys decided 8:30 am was the best time to start cutting through the bushed outside my window with a chain saw so they could rebuild our porch.  At least it got me out of bed so I could start thinking about the paper due Friday and the reading for class and so I could go ahead and read a book for fun because, dammit, it’s my day off and my school week is mostly over.  I think I’ve got a post-graduation plan for my life.  I have come to the conclusion that I do not in any way have my shit together to apply to grad school in the Fall, nor am I sure that that’s what I’d like to be doing exactly.  I think something like this could be good, at least for a year or so until i move or figure out what to do with my life.

I’m pretty excited about this project in general and have been watching it progress for at least a year. I’ve always said I’d like to get my hands on one of these since they’re designed to be rugged and work well as readers for documents and in direct sunlight. This is awesome and as far as shelling out 400 dollars (with 200 for a laptop and 200 to buy a child a computer.) I am so psyched. I’m going to start making sure I have the 400 reading on Nov 12th so I can get one of these great-looking little things. I put a little banner in the sidebar so you can have a look if I haven’t already talked to you about the project.

another quote of the day:

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

“Dude, Yellowcard sounds exactly the same live as they do on their CD!”
“Yeah, I know, they’re so awesome.”
(insert at least one pubestent-boy voice crack into that exchange for added effect.)

overheard on the 57 from Kenmore, clearly some like 9th graders out skateboarding and headed home in time for Sunday dinner with the family and their lame parents.
