consistently inconsistent.

Friday, March 24th, 2006

well, no update for this week again, not feeling inspired despite my good mood. I have some stuff rolling around in my head for later. In other news, I’m going to a show tomorrow night.
I have work that is looming over me, it hasn’t gotten to the point where it’s hanging over me yet which is good. I have great hopes for the summer; I have two job offers, both of which are vastly superior to my job last summer. One of which would make my summer enjoyable to almost no foreseeable end. I’m going to go read some V for Vendetta. That’s a damn good book, have to go see the movie sometime.

“Always there is a black spot in our sunshine: it is even as I said, the Shadow of Ourselves.”
Thomas Carlyle – Sartor Resartus, The Everlasting Yea
that’s an interesting quote, i have to go back and read all of that piece.

and from the same work, this is more relevant here:
“Watsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with they whole might. Work while it is called Today; for Night cometh, wherein no man can work.”

a very difficult and simultaneously interesting work, definetly deserving of further study.

Music: HORSE the Band: The Mechanical Hand (fairly new album, it’s good)
Happy Birthday Chuckie also. all you people are getting old. =p

The Condition of the Age

Friday, March 24th, 2006

We have no guiding light; our era has burst a central focus into a swarm of fireflies in the enveloping darkness, each with their own path and ambition. The multiplicity makes for….(add to this) There is no one voice that posits principles that are fitting to out Age, or Time, our Lives.

We have gone beyond the pyramidal structure of class. There are now distinctions that transcend social class or economic status. We are faced with more unity, and less, more division and a smaller tolerance for that which is different, but at the same time an awareness of how this tolerance is reacted to.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Friday, March 17th, 2006

I invite you to go dance a Jig, or a Reel, or a Hornpipe, or a 2, 4, 6, or 8 Hand. Play a Tin Whistle or Bodhrán. Go listen to some Pogues. Have some Guiness, wear a green article of clothing. Remember that the irish component of your family is in the country because your Great Great grandfather KILLED A MAN as part of his membership in the illegal Fenian Brotherhood. no real update this week.
here, read my poem. It’s pretty good.
and if you happen to read this, Happy Birthday Meg.

Beauty lies not only in cloudless blue skies.
It can be found in the movement of storms.

Raining and Walking.

Tuesday, March 14th, 2006

I wrote a ridiculously long poem after a longer walk in the rain this evening.
I don’t have a topic for my paper for History class yet. I still have plenty of time.
I will find a topic before I go to sleep tonight. It may be a late night. I have been very tired today, I don’t feel like i should be this tired, maybe things are weighing more heavily on me then I’ll admit. I hope not though. I had more tests done on my kidney over the break. My deformed one is working at 50% of what it should be.
I’m taking an anti-biotic to prevent infection.
St. Patrick’s Day is Friday.
Some friends are coming into town.
This paper will be done by then.
I’ll go watch a play Saturday.
You don’t really care, but it’s nice to numerate what will be happening, makes it easier to take in. Maybe i’ll post the poem. It’s not too bad, not sure if i want loads of people to read it or what. If you’re really sneaky you might find it anyway.

Music: Radiohead: Kid A, Amnesiac.
