Provincetown Photographs
Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007Ireland Photos and Superbad Preview Screening
Tuesday, August 14th, 2007Here they are finally:
via my flickr I’m happy with how some came out but a lot are overexposed just a little and too soft on the focus. I like the picture of my sister though.
Ate some awesome pizza today down at Ernesto’s in the North End and saw Superbad at a free screening which was hilarious constantly. I cannot more highly recommend this film as awesomely sophomoric. The film had me laughing almost the whole time, I got surprised when the movie didn’t have me laughing out loud for more than a minute. From physical comedy of a fleeing character being struck with a bat or falling over into another person to the film’s dialog between the three main characters was the kind that makes hanging out bullshitting with your best friends so much fun. Superbad is like hanging out with your best friends and just having a great time. So, invisible audience, pack you and your closest buddies into mom’s 1993 Ford Taurus, grab some candy from the Wal-Mart across the street and hope that kid you know from gym class can sneak you into this movie. You’ll pay anyway though because I swear, it’s worth every penny in nostalgia and the casual humor of good friends. This movie gets as many stars as I can give it. I’d link to the preview but the movie is funnier than even the funny preview does it justice since there are short gags as well as longer running jokes that you miss watching the short preview.
hoping for a blizzard.
Thursday, August 2nd, 2007I am really looking forward to when school starts up again, It’ll be the Fall and I’ll be back in classes, reading and writing like mad with new ideas flying around and discussions to go to and professors to hear lecture. I really enjoy college and am sort of lost without it giving me something to drive toward on a regular basis. I don’t know how people can just go to their boring jobs they seem to mostly dislike and then come home and just do whatever it is they do in their spare time. I need to find a really appealing hobby, something to give me a direction, a very specific direction when I’m not in school or at work. Reading and listening to music are all well and good but I can only sit around alone doing that for so long before I get restless at not having accomplished something. All that happens when I finish a book is that I pick up the next one and start reading that, in school there’s an end, I’m working toward a paper or just toward being prepared for class the next day and having that sort of visible goal is very helpful. I’m not so good at working toward invisible abstraction.
In addition to wanting for class to start I am also looking forward to the fall and winter again. If it’s above 65 degrees it is far too hot out. If i don’t have to put on a jacket when I leave the house going outside isn’t as appealing. I should really just move somewhere colder, somewhere that doesn’t have hot, nasty humid, sweat soaked summers that make you feel like you live inside a thin coating of sweat twenty-four hours a day. Also, I just really like wearing jackets. I picked up a pretty nice long woll coat for wearing with suits for ten dollars in a thrift store around the corner. It’s in need of some tailoring work to fix some worn out lining and a good dry cleaning would do wonders for it also but I’m excited to get outside wearing it in December with a couple inches of snow kicking around under my shoes reflecting up yellow from the streetlights and with flurries dancing down through the cold air to land and swirl around me as I walk.
I’m going to take a walk down to Kenmore Square and try to drop off my camera to get fixed since It jammed up while I was in Ireland. It jammed up not just anywhere in Ireland but my favorite section of the country, Connemara National Park, more or less on the west coast of the country. We drove through a little town called Delphi that I swear it was pretty much an inn clustered around where the road and a small stream came closest. Hopefully my pictures from that fiasco turn out. I keep finding rolls of film that are apparently used, I have four rolls of film and I can only say for sure what’s on two of them, I’ll post the pictures up here when I get them developed, scanned, uploaded, named, and categorized on Flickr.
here’s some of my more recent pictures of Allston, from the beginning of the summer, early June I’d guess.
(Holy shit getting this fucking plugin to do what I want is a Huge fucking pain in the ass. I’ll have to come back and fiddle with it when I’m not really frustrated with getting it working. holy shit.)
A typical evening in Allston Rock City
Tuesday, July 17th, 2007So I walked out of my apartment tonight to get some money from an ATM to buy dinner at a neighborhood pizza place. I turned the corner at the liquor store and was greeted by a cover of The Beatles “Come Together” performed by a couple of Japanese people running instruments off a battery.

It was amusing so i gave them a dollar. They had a CD of “Japanese music,” which they wanted $5 for. This seemed kind of steep to me considering there wasn’t even a plastic case and the cover was clearly from their ink jet printer. They followed up with “Let it Be,” Clapton’s “Lola” or whatever that song’s called and “Hotel California” with some improvised soloing at the end of each song for a little while. It was fun and the calzone I ate later was good too.
I brought my pogo stick just to show her a trick.
